Event Details

This event took place at The Local Saigon, 28 Đường Thảo Điền, Thảo Điền, Quận 2, Ho Chi Minh City, from 3 PM on 31 August 2023 until 1 AM on 1 September 2023, with the original address retained for archive accuracy even though the venue has since closed. Scientific Sound Asia and The Local Saigon presented Our House Garden Party and BBQ at the start of the holiday weekend, combining House Music, food and drinks in a relaxed daytime-to-night format.

The event began in the garden, where guests could enjoy House Music alongside a BBQ food selection and pies. As the evening progressed and the garden closed, the party moved indoors and continued through to the 1 AM finish.

Happy hour ran from 2 PM until 6 PM with buy-one-get-one-free draught Sapporo and Huda. Entry was free, keeping the event accessible as part of the wider long-weekend programme at The Local Saigon.

The line-up featured DJ Psycho-UK, DJ Global B and DJ Noetic. Together, they brought House, Organic House, Disco, Funk and progressive influences into a programme that could develop naturally from the earlier garden atmosphere into the later indoor session.

DJ Psycho-UK represented Scientific Sound Asia and brought House selections shaped by a much broader underground background. The East London DJ started mixing at the age of fourteen and developed through Hip Hop, Acid House, Hardcore, Jungle, Drum and Bass and House before later becoming based in Ho Chi Minh City.

For Our House, the emphasis shifted towards the House side of that collection. Fresh records, promos and groove-led selections connected the event with earlier editions of the series while keeping the music suited to the garden-party setting.

His role also linked the event with Scientific Sound Asia’s wider work across radio, live events and artist bookings. The Our House series provided a dedicated space for House and related sounds within an organisation whose history also stretches across Hip Hop, Techno, Jungle and Drum and Bass.

DJ Global B brought a Vietnamese connection to the line-up and a musical background shaped by Disco, Funk and progressive beats. His selections added warmth and rhythm to the garden programme while giving the event another perspective beyond straight House.

Disco and Funk remained natural reference points within the wider House tradition. Basslines, live instrumentation and groove-heavy arrangements could sit comfortably beside electronic production, helping Global B move between older influences and more contemporary club music.

DJ Noetic brought a deeper and more organic direction to the event. Originally from the United States, his selections drew inspiration from Organic House, Ethnic House and folk music from Africa, Latin America and the Middle East.

That approach gave the line-up a different texture from the more conventional House and Disco selections elsewhere in the programme. Percussion, acoustic instrumentation and regional musical influences could sit beside deeper electronic production without breaking the overall flow of the event.

Organic House suited the earlier garden setting particularly well because of its warm rhythms and melodic character. As the party moved indoors later in the night, the music could gradually become deeper and more driving while retaining the same groove-led foundation.

Progressive House added another layer to the programme and gave the DJs space to build longer transitions across the evening. Rather than relying on quick stylistic changes, the music could develop gradually as the setting shifted from afternoon social gathering to late-night party.

The garden-party format gave this edition of Our House a different character from a conventional nightclub event. Guests could arrive early for food and drinks, stay outside while the weather allowed and then continue indoors once the garden section finished.

The BBQ and pies were an important part of that structure because the event was designed to last across much of the day and evening. Food made it easier for guests to settle in for the long session rather than treating the venue simply as a place to arrive late for dancing.

The drinks specials also helped shape the early part of the programme. Buy-one-get-one-free Sapporo and Huda between 2 PM and 6 PM gave the garden session a clear social focus before the later indoor party took over.

The move inside after the garden closed allowed the event to continue without losing momentum. What began as an outdoor House session could become a more concentrated club-style environment as the night developed towards 1 AM.

The combination of DJ Psycho-UK, DJ Global B and DJ Noetic gave the event enough variety to work across both settings. Disco and Funk could support the daytime atmosphere, Organic House and progressive sounds could deepen the programme, and broader House selections could carry the party through the later hours.
