DnB Saigon: Drum & Bass Night at Tonic Rooftop Bar Ho Chi Minh City

Saturday 14 March 2026, 12:00 AM Tonic Rooftop Bar
DnB Saigon – Drum & Bass Rooftop Session

Event Details

This event took place at Tonic Rooftop Bar, 79 Quốc Hương, Thảo Điền, Thủ Đức, Ho Chi Minh City, from 9 PM on 14 March 2026 until 3 AM on 15 March 2026. Scientific Sound Asia presented DnB Saigon with DJ Psycho-UK, Skitty, Throe and Dobbo for a free-entry rooftop session dedicated to underground bass music.

Set above Thảo Điền, Tonic provided an open-air setting for six hours of Drum and Bass, Jungle and deeper bass-driven selections. The programme moved between rolling rhythms, atmospheric material and heavier pressure while keeping the music firmly within the wider Drum and Bass spectrum.

The event followed Open Frequencies with Digital, held at Tonic the previous month with the UK Jungle and Drum and Bass veteran alongside DJ Psycho-UK, Skitty, Dobbo and Throe. That February booking connected the venue directly with an artist whose catalogue spans Metalheadz, V Recordings, 31 Records, Reinforced and numerous other labels central to the development of underground Drum and Bass.

Rather than bringing in another international headliner for March, DnB Saigon put the locally based selectors at the centre of the night. The format gave the crew its own platform between touring bookings and continued Scientific Sound Asia's effort to maintain regular Drum and Bass activity in Ho Chi Minh City.

DJ Psycho-UK brought an East London background shaped by Hip Hop, Hardcore, Jungle, Drum and Bass and the British underground rave scene. His involvement connected the rooftop session with Scientific Sound Asia's longer history of bass events in Vietnam, stretching back through Rehab, Drum Save The Queen and numerous later international bookings.

Skitty brought another direct link with UK Drum and Bass through releases associated with Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles and his own Foundation X imprint. His darker and more technical approach complemented the rolling and atmospheric material elsewhere in the programme, giving the night additional weight without narrowing it to one subgenre.

Throe added a Bristol-rooted perspective and another connection with contemporary underground Drum and Bass. His selections brought energetic rhythms and rolling bass pressure into a line-up already grounded strongly in the genre's British foundations.

Dobbo completed the four-DJ programme with raw bass selections and a less predictable approach to the dancefloor. His presence alongside Psycho-UK, Skitty and Throe reinforced the resident-led character of the event and helped maintain continuity with other Scientific Sound Asia bass sessions around Tonic.

The rooftop location gave DnB Saigon a different character from the enclosed club environments traditionally associated with the music. Open air, city views and a smaller community setting allowed deep rollers and atmospheric selections to work alongside tougher material without requiring the entire night to operate at maximum intensity.

Entry was free, making the session accessible to existing Drum and Bass followers as well as people discovering the local scene for the first time. The event was promoted as a community gathering centred on music, atmosphere and the people supporting underground bass culture in Ho Chi Minh City.

A clear drug-free policy was also stated, with illicit substances strictly prohibited at the event. The message formed part of Scientific Sound Asia's approach during this period, placing the emphasis on music, positive energy and maintaining a sustainable environment for underground events.

The series returned to Tonic again on 11 April 2026, when Darkus and Mango joined Skitty, Dobbo and DJ Psycho-UK for the next edition. That continuation showed DnB Saigon developing into a recurring rooftop format rather than functioning only as an occasional one-off gathering.

Scientific Sound Asia's wider work connects these events through its radio station, DJ agency, events programme and music news. The March edition represented the community-led side of that activity, giving locally based Drum and Bass DJs their own regular space between larger international bookings.

DnB Saigon at Tonic ultimately kept the formula uncomplicated with four selectors, six hours of bass music and free entry on a Thảo Điền rooftop. DJ Psycho-UK, Skitty, Throe and Dobbo carried the night through rolling Drum and Bass, Jungle influences and deeper pressure while maintaining the local momentum around the genre in Ho Chi Minh City.
