DnB Saigon: Drum and Bass in Ho Chi Minh City

Event Details

DnB Saigon took place at Tonic Rooftop Bar, 79 Quốc Hương, Thảo Điền, Thủ Đức, Ho Chi Minh City, from 9 PM on 11 April 2026 until 3 AM on 12 April 2026. Scientific Sound Asia presented another edition of DnB Saigon, bringing Skitty, Darkus, Dobbo, DJ Psycho-UK and Mango together for six hours of underground bass music.

The night continued the organisation’s long-running support for Drum and Bass and Jungle in Vietnam. Tonic’s rooftop setting provided an open-air environment for a programme moving from rolling rhythms and deeper selections into heavier bass pressure as the night developed.

The line-up was built entirely around DJs already connected with the regional scene rather than an international headline booking. That gave this edition a more resident-led identity and placed the emphasis on the selectors who had been helping maintain Drum and Bass activity in Ho Chi Minh City between larger touring events.

Skitty brought extensive UK Drum and Bass experience to the night through a career connected with Metalheadz, Renegade Hardware, Subtitles, Bassbin and his own Foundation X imprint. His darker selections and Jungle roots gave the programme a direct connection with the harder and deeper traditions of British bass music.

Darkus added another heavy direction to the line-up, bringing selections suited to the more forceful end of the night. His presence alongside Skitty helped ensure the session could move beyond smooth rollers into tougher Drum and Bass without losing its underground focus.

Dobbo contributed raw bass music and less predictable selections, giving the programme another point of contrast. That flexibility allowed the night to shift between different forms of Drum and Bass rather than staying locked into one subgenre for the full six hours.

DJ Psycho-UK represented Scientific Sound Asia with a background stretching from East London Hip Hop and rave culture into Jungle, Drum and Bass and wider underground electronic music. His involvement connected this 2026 edition with the organisation’s earlier bass events, including Rehab, Drum Save The Queen and later international bookings across Ho Chi Minh City.

Mango completed the published line-up and added another locally connected selector to the night. Together, the five DJs gave DnB Saigon a broad musical range covering rolling Drum and Bass, Jungle influence, darker material and deeper low-frequency pressure.

The event followed another DnB Saigon rooftop session at Tonic on 14 March 2026 featuring DJ Psycho-UK, Skitty, Throe and Dobbo. That earlier edition had already established the returning rooftop format, while April kept the same local-community focus with a reshaped line-up.

It also came after Open Frequencies with Digital, which brought the UK Jungle and Drum and Bass veteran to Tonic in February 2026. That booking connected the venue with another important strand of the genre’s history before the regular DnB Saigon sessions resumed.

The April event was deliberately promoted as drug-free, with illicit substances strictly prohibited. That policy formed part of Scientific Sound Asia’s post-raid approach, keeping the emphasis firmly on music, community and a positive atmosphere while nightlife in the city operated under increased scrutiny.

Free entry reinforced the community-led character of the night and made the session accessible without turning it into a large-ticket headline event. The rooftop format, familiar resident DJs and six-hour running time allowed the music itself to remain the central reason for attending.

Scientific Sound Asia’s wider activity connects these events with its radio station, DJ agency, events programme and music news. DnB Saigon represents the continuing local side of that work, sitting alongside international bookings while giving resident and regional DJs their own regular platform.

The 11 April edition therefore kept things straightforward: Skitty, Darkus, Dobbo, DJ Psycho-UK and Mango, a rooftop in Thảo Điền and six hours of Drum and Bass. With free entry and a clearly stated drug-free policy, the focus remained on bass music, the people around it and maintaining a sustainable underground event series in Ho Chi Minh City.
