Cali’s HouseNation Radio returns with another edition hosted by Nocturne, this time featuring guest DJ Amanda J on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting listeners across the region and internationally.
Originally from Los Angeles, Nocturne began DJing in 2007 under the name DJ Turiz. His early sets moved through Reggaeton, Hip Hop, Bachata, Merengue, Salsa and Cumbia, giving him a broad musical foundation and a strong understanding of different club audiences across Southern California.
His attention shifted increasingly towards electronic music in 2013 as he explored House and deeper underground styles. During this period, he co-founded Digital Audio Kingz with DJ MORE and expanded into FM radio, giving him another platform for developing his selections and reaching a wider audience.
The Nocturne project was launched in 2018 alongside Cali’s HouseNation Radio, a programme dedicated to the many forms of House music. The show later developed into an internationally syndicated series through the CHNR Syndication Network, extending its reach far beyond its original local audience.
Now based in San Diego, Nocturne also presents On the Deep End and Deep House Sessions under the DAK Music banner. These programmes explore deeper Progressive House and melodic material while keeping rhythm, atmosphere and coherent programming at the centre of each broadcast.
His radio work reflects the same broad musical background that shaped his early career as DJ Turiz. Rather than approaching House from a single stylistic direction, he draws on years of experience with different dancefloor cultures and uses that knowledge to shape longer, carefully paced programmes.
Through Cali’s HouseNation Radio, Nocturne presents established artists alongside emerging DJs and producers from across the international House music scene. Each edition combines his background in club culture, broadcasting and underground electronic music with a strong emphasis on flow and musical progression.
This edition continues that format with guest DJ Amanda J joining the programme. Her contribution adds another perspective to a series built around contemporary House music and the wider network of artists connected through Nocturne’s international radio work.

This edition’s guest is Amanda J, a long-standing figure in Inland Southern California’s House music community whose work extends beyond DJing into event curation and scene development. Since the early 2000s, she has helped create spaces for underground dance music in an area where House was not always widely represented in local venues.
Her early activity was driven by a determination to bring House music into inland communities and build a regular audience around it. Over time, those efforts developed into a series of parties and projects that connected DJs, dancers and local music supporters through a shared interest in underground club culture.
One of those projects was Home at Worthington’s Tavern, a weekly House music event that became an important meeting point for the local scene. The night helped create lasting friendships and provided a consistent platform for music, social connection and community.
Amanda also developed the One Night Stand underground warehouse series, which featured both local DJs and visiting artists. The events were built around the energy of temporary spaces, independent promotion and a direct relationship between the selectors and the people on the dancefloor.
Her most substantial event project has been The Body Electric, a long-running series she co-founded and helped shape across a variety of unconventional venues. Secret warehouse-style spaces, concert lounges, breweries and dive bars have all been used as settings for a concept built around underground music rather than one permanent club.
The musical direction of The Body Electric brings older and newer House influences together while leaving room for different approaches from individual guests. Amanda has also made a point of supporting female artists through the series, with DJs including Heather, Colette and Reid Speed appearing at its events.
That advocacy forms an important part of her wider role within the scene. Rather than treating representation as separate from event programming, Amanda has used her bookings to give accomplished female DJs visible positions within line-ups built around underground dance music.
House remains at the centre of her own DJing, but her selections are not limited to one particular subgenre. She is known for combining contrasting styles, moving between Bass House, Jazzy and Jackin’ House, deeper material and other rhythmic directions according to the setting.
That flexibility gives her sets an unpredictable quality without sacrificing flow. Older records and familiar influences can sit beside newer productions, allowing nostalgia and contemporary club music to operate within the same programme.
Amanda’s approach is based on allowing dance music to change rather than preserving one fixed interpretation of House culture. Whether behind the decks or organising events, she continues to support new artists, fresh ideas and modern variations on the sounds that first shaped her involvement with the scene.
For her appearance on Cali’s HouseNation Radio, Amanda J brings that combination of DJ experience, event curation and long-standing commitment to Southern California’s House community into the programme. Her guest selection reflects an artist whose work has consistently connected underground music with the people and spaces needed to keep a local scene active.
Nocturne opens the first hour of Cali’s HouseNation Radio Episode 320 with a sustained run of Deep House, beginning with DP-6 before Jay Newman and ALTASOPH, Mauro B with David Ol, Mo'Cream and Vitali. establish a warm and measured groove. Avision, Reboot and Shokë, Alex Bigi and Mr Jay then broaden the rhythm before Jaques Le Noir begins a decisive move towards the tougher swing of Tech House.
LondonGround, Volkoder, Wade, Sllash & Doppe with SUBB and Shakti keep that tech-house pressure running through the latter half, giving Nocturne's hour a clear progression from deeper material into increasingly direct club energy. R.A.W.'s Strictly Rhythm cut "Unbe" closes the section with a return to House Music foundations, connecting the contemporary selections with an older strand of underground house history.
DJ Amanda J begins the second hour with Markus Nikolai's "Bushes" before The Sponges introduce Bass House and Patrick Topping, Vilad, Arnold & Lane and Sage Armstrong quickly bring the mix back towards tech house. Gettoblaster and DJ Dan with Ghettoblaster add the livelier character of Funky House, while Sam Dexter with Mallin, Sidney Charles with Aleya Mae and the Freerange collaboration "Switch" provide deeper changes of pace.
The final stretch widens considerably as Daniel Fernandes introduces Indie Dance before Lenchappp and SOJI return to tightly wound club grooves, with Sidney Charles and Aleya Mae adding a deeper tech-house turn. Maya Angelou's "Phenomenal Woman" in the Shigeto + Kimba Unit version, La Guraida's unidentified genre selection and Nathan Haines with Verna Francis' acapella give Amanda J an unconventional closing sequence, ending a two-hour programme that moves from deep house through tech house and bass-heavy club music into spoken word and DJ-tool territory.
