DJ Joshua announces fantastic playlist for Floating Beats 763

Floating Beats 763 welcomes back host DJ Joshua for another edition of his long-running electronic music series on Scientific Sound Asia. Scientific Sound Asia operates as an Asian electronic music radio station, DJ agency, promoter and music news platform, connecting underground artists and listeners across the region and internationally.

Based in Évora, Portugal, DJ Joshua has been involved with electronic music since the mid-1990s, developing his knowledge through vinyl, cassettes, CDs and later digital formats. His background reaches across House, Techno, Drum and Bass and Chillout, providing a broad musical foundation built over several decades.

Joshua's early involvement included DJing, record collecting, local radio and participation in Portugal's developing rave scene. He also remained connected through event organisation, collaboration and support for local artists before stepping away from regular activity to concentrate on family life.

His eventual return led to Floating Beats, which became an outlet for deeper, progressive and hypnotic underground electronic music. Joshua builds each edition around atmosphere and controlled progression, allowing individual tracks room to develop without relying on abrupt shifts or constant peak-time pressure.

Alongside broadcasting, Joshua produces under several aliases that allow different areas of his studio work to develop independently. Each project represents another part of the musical perspective he has built through years of collecting, DJing, radio and production.

As Joshua Fernand, he concentrates largely on contemporary Techno and tougher club-focused material. Releases include Blue River on MixCult Digital alongside Breaking Rocks and Tearing Metal through his own JFLM Recordings.

Closed Door and Open Door on Radickal Records explore darker and more hypnotic territory through repetition, tension and stripped-back rhythmic structures. Killer's Plan on Rice Bowl Recordings introduces a more melodic direction, connecting his harder productions with the atmospheric ideas found elsewhere in his work.

The Joshua Marian alias carries much of his warmer and more soulful output, placing greater emphasis on groove, melody and smoother rhythmic development. Releases include Soul Zone, Love My Soul, Tengo Rojo, Restless Lips, Always on My Mind and I Can Go, You Can See.

K Joshua provides space for more abstract, hypnotic and experimental material, with dub-influenced textures and spacious arrangements forming part of the project. Promised Work on Kopoc, Stranger Things on dublucid, As You Are on Liberty Rhythm and Slow Laziness on Ghetto Rhythms Records illustrate that deeper side of his catalogue.

Working through several identities gives Joshua room to explore contrasting ideas without forcing every production into the same direction. Joshua Fernand carries much of the tougher club material, Joshua Marian represents the warmer and more melodic side of his work, while K Joshua provides an outlet for deeper and more experimental productions.

In 2024, Joshua launched JFLM Recordings as an independent outlet for his productions and collaborative projects. The label gives him greater control over how new material is presented while providing a dedicated home for music connected with the different sides of his studio work.

That production activity feeds naturally back into his broadcasting and broadens the perspective behind Floating Beats. Episode 763 continues the series with carefully paced underground electronic music shaped by decades of listening and Joshua's continuing interest in new records, production techniques and ideas.

DJ Joshua opens Floating Beats 763 with Feral's Sinner, immediately establishing the raw, deep and hypnotic strain of Techno that dominates the programme. Carara's Tool 001 then provides the first Peak Time Techno surge, adding a more forceful driving pulse before Joshua Fernand's Divine pulls the mix back into deeper territory.

DJ Dextro's Disclosure Of Who We Are, DJ Sodeyama's Tailtiu and 543FF's Precarious develop that hypnotic direction through stripped percussion, repetition and controlled pressure. DC11 interrupts the sequence with Designer Concrete Boots, giving the episode its second and final peak-time selection before Joshua Fernand returns with Celestial.

A Thousand Details and Tony Miler keep the middle of the programme firmly rooted in Deep Techno, with Reformulation and Kalimba extending the darker and more spacious character of the set. Temudo's U Used to Laugh at my Jokes then tightens the rhythmic focus while retaining the same raw, hypnotic framework.

Bartig Move's remix of Drop-e and RNGD's La Furia del Viento continues the late-stage pressure through another deep, functional selection before A.Paul's 2026 remix of Hipnotika brings an established Portuguese Techno name into the final stretch. Both tracks preserve the episode's restrained intensity rather than forcing a dramatic change in direction.

Oscar Mulero closes with Untold on Loopaina, ending the set exactly where much of it has lived: in dark, hypnotic and uncompromising Techno. The finale reinforces the programme's emphasis on repetition, texture and carefully sustained tension rather than melodic crossover or broader genre shifts.

Across Floating Beats 763, twelve of the fourteen tracks fall into the raw, deep and hypnotic Techno category, with only two peak-time selections providing harder bursts of energy. DJ Joshua therefore keeps this episode especially focused, moving between deep hypnotic pressure and short driving peaks without leaving the Techno framework.

Tune in to his live radio show on Monday, October 5th, 2026, from 6 to 8 p.m. Indochina Time (ICT). If you can't catch the live broadcast, you can listen to the replay on Friday from 6 to 8 a.m. (ICT).
